Late Wednesday evening, the Concacaf Champions Cup Final lineup will be locked in as the second legs between two Liga MX teams and two MLS sides conclude.
That comes after last week’s first legs, which saw Tigres edge to a 1-0 win over Nashville, while LAFC secured a 2-1 victory against Toluca.
This time around, both semi-finals will be played in Mexico with Tigres and Toluca both hoping that their home-court advantage can get them over the line.
Tigres vs Nashville
Kickoff: Tuesday, May 5 @ 9:30pm ET/6:30pm PT
Broadcast live on FS1 (English) & TUDN (Español)
The first of the two finalists will be decided on Tuesday night as Tigres welcome Nashville to El Volcán.
Ángel Correa’s 33rd-minute strike in the first leg remains the difference between these two sides as Los Felinos remain heavy favourites to secure passage to the final.
Tigres will be hoping to go one better from last year, ultimately crashing out to eventual champions Cruz Azul as Angel Sepúlveda’s late penalty sent La Máquina onto the final in heartbreaking circumstances for Guido Pizarro’s men.
Nashville won’t be daunted when they travel to Monterrey. In the last round, they became the first MLS side to ever win at the Estadio Azteca, knocking out Club América. Despite being a goal down, they’ll be hoping to continue their strong run on Mexican soil by causing yet another surprise.
Toluca vs LAFC
Kickoff: Wednesday, May 6 @ 9:30pm ET/6:30pm PT
Broadcast live on FS2 (English) & TUDN (Español)
All looked set to be even going into the second leg until Nkosi Tafari’s stoppage-time winner for the Californian side gave them the lead heading to the Estadio Nemesio Diez.
On their way to the final four, LAFC made light work of their quarter-final tie with Cruz Azul, inflicting a 3-0 defeat on the reigning champions before earning a draw in Mexico.
Despite last week’s loss, Toluca remains expected to mount a challenge back on home turf. Antonio Mohamed’s side was heavily rotated during the weekend defeat to Pachuca in their Clausura quarter-final meeting. The likes of Nicolás Castro, Santiago Simon and Paulinho all came off the bench; Helinho and Antonio Briseño were both suspended.
