Match- Charlotte FC host Real Salt Lake
This week, in MLS Week 29, there are a few instances of west coast teams headed east, and I always like to capitalize on far travel and unfamiliar opponents. This week, Charlotte FC host Real Salt Lake in one such game.
Pep Biel will still be out for Charlotte, but their defense is mostly intact and Wilfred Zaha and Idan Toklomati are finding form. I think their great home form (3 straight wins allowing only 1 goal) is going to be the dominant story of the day.
Pick- Charlotte FC +100
Charlotte FC are 9-1-2 at home while they are 4-1-9 on the road. While Charlotte is a professional home winner, they are playing RSL who are poor on the road, going just 3-3-7 on the 2025 season.
RSL lost 2-1 on the road to Red Bull last week and might feel angry after they conceded 2 penalties and saw Diego Luna get red carded off late. I think their loss of Luna is going to hurt them as their new strikers are still settling in.
This pick takes into account a home warrior,a road dog, unfamiliar opponents, and player availability. Getting Charlotte at even money seems like a steal headed into MLS Week 29.
Match- NE Revolution host LAFC
The New England Revolution are fresh off last week’s 2-0 home win over DC United. Unfortunately for them, in MLS Week 29, they have a significantly more difficult opponent in LAFC.
Last week, LAFC had the debut of star signing Son, who contributed in a 2-2 draw at Chicago against the Fire. This week, I think LAFC will look to improve their 2 win, 5 draw, and 3 loss away record with a win. To do that, LAFC will most likely need to goals. At -106, the LAFC team total is my official play.
Pick- LAFC TT O1.5 -106
The Revolution had a nice little midseason success streak, but have fallen back to earth spectacularly. They have just one win in their last 8 home matches and only one win in their last 10 overall. They allowed 18 goals in 12 home matches, but conceded 13 in only their last 6.
LAFC scored 2 times in all but one of their last 7 away matches, and have 20 goals in 10 away matches this season. The -106 is a great number in a bubble, but it’s spectacular against the Revs this weekend.
Match- NY Red Bulls host Philadelphia Union
In MLS Matchday 29 we get a replay of the midweek US Open Cup match between RBNY and the Philadelphia Union. The game was a back and forth affair at Subaru Park that ended in a 3-2 Union win.
This week, I think they will play a similar match. The Red Bulls have seen 52 goals in 13 home matches, so I see another shootout this week. I don’t want to choose a winner, so I will take the over 2.5 goal bet with both teams to score.
Pick- BTTS & O2.5 -104
I think both teams will score and they will hit the over on 2.5 goals. Together, the odds for this play will be -104.
Red Bull has found that over in their last 4 home matches, and only missed the 2.5 goal total in 3 home matches all season. They are scoring and conceding in bunches, against opponents of all levels.
The Union buck that trend, with 45 total goals in 14 home matches but only 24 goals in 12 away matches. I think this one goes against trend; Philly will be competitive and come out swinging this week, leading to more goals.
Match- Minnesota United host Seattle Sounders
MLS Week 29 also has a great conference matchup when Minnesota United hosts the Seattle Sounders. Minnesota United are in 3rd place with 44 points, and Seeattle are in 4th place with 41. This one has big playoff implications.
I believe both teams come out swinging, and I will be taking the over on 3.5 goals.
Pick- Over 3.5 +190
Minnesota United is playing to 40 goals in 13 home matches, while Seattle have only recently been turning away matches into shootouts. Seattle has seen a total of 26 goals in their last 7 away matches, including scoring 9 total in their last 3.
With Seattle missing players like Arriola, Joao Paulo, Morris, and Rusnak you’d think they would be struggling, but their offense is as lively as ever. It doesn’t make sense, but roll with it.
Match- Colorado Rapids host Atlanta United
The Colorado Rapids host Atlanta United in MLS Week 29, and I like their chance to win. Atlanta has been a punching bag for most of the season, and I have zero trust in them performing at altitude against the Rapids.
Pick- Colorado Rapids +115
Atlanta have no away wins in 2025, but they do have 3 straight draws. Those draws are against Montreal, Toronto, and DC United. Before that spell, they were 0-2-7 with only 2 points on the road. Their form isn’t improving, they just played 3 straight bad teams.
As for Colorado, they have been hot and cold all season. They end a 3 game road trip at home, where they have earned 1.54 points per game this season. I think they get back to winning ways and Atlanta is non competitive in this match.
Match- SJ Earthquakes host San Diego FC
My last official play for MLS Week 29 takes place in the SJ Earthquakes vs SDFC match. San Diego have been fantastic this season, and I think they are the likely victors against the Quakes.
San Jose has no discernible home advantage, while SDFC is 8-4 on the road. San Diego’s 2 points per game on the road beats San Jose’s 1.38 points per game at home, two stats which reflect my confidence in SDFC this weekend.
Pick- San Diego DNB -108
San Diego will be back with Anders Dreyer and Hirving Lozano on the wings, which has been a huge part of their recipe for success. I think this match will look a lot like San Diego’s 2-0 win over Sporting KC last weekend, but I will happily take the draw no bet option to protect against San Jose waking up and putting on a competitive show.
