Attention is turning towards Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Mathys Tel is being connected with a summer transfer. The talented French forward, who has impressed in pre-season friendlies, has come to a point where he must make a critical decision regarding his future. Our sources tell us that two clubs are now in the hunt for the 21-year-old: Turkish Süper Lig giants Galatasaray and Portugal’s FC Porto.

Mathys Tel’s Current Situation

Hooligan Soccer insiders have shared that Tel’s pre-season camp impressed the Spurs coaching staff, particularly his tactical adaptation in training matches, high pressing metrics, and solid overall work rate. Manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly communicated to the player that he would give him an important role in the new season and trusted him in the squad depth.

But this contrasts with Tottenham’s known activity in the current transfer market, which appears keen on overhauling the attacking line from top to bottom. Spurs management are understood to be maintaining warm contacts to add names like Cody Gakpo, Savinho, and Barış Alper Yılmaz to the squad.

According to sources close to Hooligan Soccer, Mathys Tel’s primary objective is to regularly take the pitch in the starting XI and increase his match minutes. The French striker harbors concerns about losing his place in the team and falling back in the rotation if Tottenham finish these major winger and forward transfers. If Tel falls to the third-choice position in the rotation, the young star definitely does not want to sit on the substitute bench and stall his development. He is fully prepared to ‘push for exit’ to the club in order to go to a team where he can play regularly.

We can also reveal that the player’s manager expressed this sensitivity in extremely clear language during his last meeting with Tottenham executives.

The Galatasaray Gambit

According to sources close to the situation, the Turkish giants already conveyed an official offer to Tottenham Hotspur containing a $3.5 million loan fee alongside a $29 million purchase option.  Following the departure of Mauro Icardi, the Yellow-Reds have been eager to reinforce the attack, and see a dynamic, ambitious, hungry, and extremely high-potential star like Mathys Tel as a valuable addition. The Galatasaray president and transfer committee are preparing to offer the player a high annual salary and a highly satisfying package on personal terms. Preliminary talks held with the French player’s manager are progressing in an extremely positive mood.

Galatasaray’s fiery fan atmosphere, Champions League showcase, and a regular starting XI playing guarantee have reportedly managed to turn Tel’s head. While waiting for the final response from Tottenham, the Istanbul representative conveyed to the English club that they are also open to improving the offer conditions.

This is where Barış Alper Yılmaz enters the scene. We understand that Tottenham are open to including Tel’s name as part of a larger deal for Yılmaz, perhaps even entertaining notions of a swap or other similar structure. No concrete details have emerged yet; negotiations are still in an early phase.

The Porto Play

Hooligan Soccer has been told that the Tel’s representatives reached out to FC Porto’s management. The Porto scouting team has been watching the player’s development closely since his Bayern Munich period, recognizing the tactical flexibility he could create in both the center-forward and left-wing positions. The Portuguese side are also conducting serious analyses over a loan formula with a purchase option.

However, Porto’s current financial structure may struggle to compete with the Galatasaray offer. Porto’s management are emphasizing their track record of young player development and a guarantee of Champions League play to convince the player. Of course, the Turks also have Champions League, and with more favorable personal terms on the table we understand Galatasaray is still Tel’s favored choice.

Where Things Currently Stand

Tottenham are playing dominos, waiting to see if negotiations with Gakpo or Savinho bear fruit. Our insiders report that Tel’s own interest in the move to Türkiye increases daily as Spurs look for higher pips on their attacking tiles. FC Porto is waiting in the wings to try and make a late swoop.

But the Istanbul-based side is prepared to accelerate. We can reveal that Galatasaray management are planning to send a special delegation to London next week to finalize the transfer, believing that personal terms with the player are rock-solid. Executives are reportedly keeping their private jets on standby to send to London in the event quick action is needed.
